Heidi grew up in Middle Village, in the suburban borough of Queens, in New York City. There she played with friends, roller-skated, rode her bicycle and visited the park almost everyday. Before she went to bed at night, she wrote about her favorite and sometimes “not so favorite” events of the day. These were all important experiences that she felt needed to be remembered by writing and drawing pictures about them.
Today, Heidi still enjoys doing the same things she did during her childhood, but has added new activities such as drinking coffee, spending time with her husband and two children, traveling and of course…shopping and writing books.
Heidi is a graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature and a SCBWI member. She is currently working on two collections of books entitled the Jack Collection and the Smoothie Collection. She created the Jack Collection to entertain and teach children about the importance of developing good habits. The Smoothie Collection is designed to help ease a young child’s anxiety about facing new experiences such as riding a bus for the first time. Her unique stories combine education and rhyme, so learning becomes exciting and fun for all young readers.
