What Could I Be?
by Robin Jelinek

When I get into bed at night

I snuggle in warm and tight

I close my eyes and drift away

And dream of what I could be someday

What if dreams really do come true?

And I could be whatever I wanted to

I could be a surgeon and perform an operation

Or I could be a medical doctor and give an examination

I could be a dentist and fix teeth like new

Or I could be a nurse and take care of you

I could be a lawyer and handle a case or two

Or I could be a judge and decide what to do

I could be a police officer and arrest those for doing wrong

Or I could be a private detective on a stake out all night long

I could be a secretary and organize the day

Or I could be a travel agent and plan a trip far away

I could be a teacher and make learning fun

Or I could be a principal and be in charge of everyone

I could be a reporter and get the story right

Or I could be a news anchor on TV every night

I could be an actress that everyone would know

Or I could be a singer and be on the radio

I could be an artist and draw a cartoon

Or I could be a musician and play a tune

I could be a dancer and perform in a ballet

Or I could be a director and direct a play

I could be a designer and decorate with flair

Or I could be a beautician and style hair

I could be a chef in a fancy restaurant

Or I could be a server and bring you what you want

When I wake up I stretch my arms over my head

I start to go over all the dreams that I had in bed

I think about my dreams one by one

Especially the ones that were so much fun

Then I pick the one that feels the best to me

That is how I decide what I could be
