Sharon Crowder Gimperling was born in West Virginia and grew up in Ohio. The third of four children, Sharon was always a dreamer and a reader. When given a chance to buy something as a child, she almost always picked a new book.
Still living in Ohio near Lake Erie, Sharon is a 28-year veteran teacher. She is currently teaching third grade but has taught all levels (first grade through eighth) as a special education teacher and as a regular classroom teacher. Her biggest regret in teaching is not having enough hours in the day to read to her students as much as she would like. Her greatest joy is watching children become excited about reading.
Sharon is the mother of two sons and also has two granddaughters. She loves reading, playing, and shopping with her granddaughters. In other words, spoiling them!
This is Sharon's first attempt at writing a children's book. She is an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators but has never submitted a story for publication before this attempt. She feels honored to be one of the finalists.
