Donna Farrell, Illustrator

Donna was born and raised in Depew, New York. The youngest of three children, she was often found doodling with a pencil in hand. Her favorite childhood media included crayons, construction paper and tempera paint.  Donna’s early paper collages and sculptures that she masterfully crafted from everyday objects ignited her passion for art.

Following her heart, Donna earned a BFA with a concentration in Graphic Design from SUNY College at Fredonia. Her love of art wasn’t her only love at Fredonia. Donna graduated hand in hand with the quiet supportive young man that she would marry, John.

Donna and John currently live in a suburb of Rochester, New York, in the town of Perinton. They have three whimsical, buoyant children that keep their small farm house filled with laughter and sometimes a bit of mischief.

Since college, Donna has employed her creativity as a production assistant at a university press, a freelance graphic artist and a technical illustrator. She also crafted hand painted children’s furniture for specialty boutiques.

Her love of illustration coupled with the delight of sharing gorgeous, well written books with her children has led Donna to pursue a career as a children’s book illustrator.
